Governor Tours Northark Facilities

Deck to speak at August 25th Northark Economic Update Breakfast Kathy Deck, Director of the Center for Business and Economic Research (CBER) in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, will speak Wednesday, Aug. 25, in the Economic Update Breakfast Series at North Arkansas College. The event, sponsored by Centurion Financial Services and Porterfield Killingsworth CPA, will be held in the L.E. “Gene” Durand Center at the Center Campus of North Arkansas College in Harrison. “These breakfast presentations are designed to update local business leaders on economic conditions and trends for our area and the region,” said North Arkansas College President Dr. Jeff Olson. “Kathy did a good job at our first breakfast last summer, and we look forward to her return. We also appreciate the sponsorship of Ken Savells, Tom Porterfield and their colleagues in bringing her here.” Breakfast will be served starting at 7 a.m. in the Durand Center. The program starts at 7:30. Tickets are available at $10 each by contacting Amy Bell, Northark’s director of community education, at (870) 391-3160. This is the third presentation in the Economic Update Breakfast Series. The Series debuted in August of 2009 with Deck as its first presenter, and Dr. Michael R. Pakko, Chief Economist and State Economic Forecaster at the Institute for Economic Advancement at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, was the speaker this past January. Deck earned a B.A. in economics from the College of William and Mary and a M.S. in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before joining the Center for Business and Economic Research, she was the antitrust economist for the Arizona Attorney General. Her research interests include local economic development, industry market structure, and education and health care economics.
